I’ve never felt great drinking alcohol but when

I’ve never felt great drinking alcohol but when my mast cell issues rose up, drinking became an instant no-go for me. I would get major flushing, itching and stomach aches anytime I partook. It’s been a lot of trail and error figuring out my histamine issues over the years, but in doing so, I’ve been able to know what does and does not work for me - including alcohols. I’m still by no means a drinker, but I can now have a glass of something if I’m out and I know I’m not going to feel horrendous if I prep in the right way.

⁣I threw together a little chicken pot pie adjac

⁣I threw together a little chicken pot pie adjacent meal (play off of a @pinchofyum recipe). It’s low histamine (especially if you omit the wine!) and super comforting/easy to throw together. ⠀

Recipe:⠀
• Couple tablespoons of butter ⠀
• 2 Shallots ⠀
• 1 Teaspoon of thyme ⠀
• 1 Mirepoix mix fromTJs (or equivalent veggies)⠀
• 1/3 cup of flour⠀
• Splash of white wine (omit if you’re being very good about histamine, but it’s just a bit and you burn it off)⠀
• 2 Cups of milk⠀
• 1 1/2 Cups of chicken broth ⠀
• 3-4 Chicken breasts⠀
• 1-1 1/2 cup of peas (I used fresh but frozen works really well)⠀
• 1 package of ready to make biscuits • Salt and pepper to taste⠀
⠀
Cook and shred 3 chicken breasts, then put aside. ⠀
⠀
Sauté the shallots with butter and thyme until they start to turn translucent then add the mirepoix mix. Cook on medium heat until veggies are tender then add in the flour. Give it a stir and add the wine, wait for it all to burn off, then add in the milk and chicken broth. ⠀

After this just toss in the shredded chicken breasts and peas and bake it in the oven at 350 for 20-25 min. ⠀

Make the biscuits according to the package and serve with one topped on top of your chicken pot pie mixture and enjoy!
