With quarantine and social distancing in play it is safe to say we’ve had a LOT of free time on our hands. This has been a weird period in so many ways and we’ve definitely let a lot of our normal routines (like wearing real clothes and putting on a bra) slide. Even if we aren’t going anywhere (because besides walks with our dogs, we’re not) sometimes it just feels good to do our hair or put on a little mascara on for the day.
Little things that make us feel a bit more human and less like a zombie. We have both grown up painting our nails and giving each other manicures. We own more nail polish than we like to admit, but on those days where we couldn’t get out of bed due to chronic illness(es), painting our nails was something we could always do to add some color to our day. So a couple of weeks ago when we came across an online add for a company called ManiMe (they that offer peel on gel manicures you do at home) we decided to give it a go.
This was something we’d never seen before so we thought it would be a fun thing to try out together and report back about on our blog. We love the idea of a gel manicure (because our nails always seem to chip so easily) but have never been fans of the idea of putting our hands under those light machines.
ManiMe
The great thing about ManiMe that they are actually custom cut to fit your own nails. You send in 4 photos according to their easy to follow guidelines and then, poof, you get delivered a made-for-you set. Not going to lie – we were a little skeptical about this part especially since we have itty bitty nails but the sizing and fit was perfect. They’re designed to have a little extra in length but the package also comes with a mini nail file that you are supposed to move in a downwards motion against your manicure to create a clean edge for the nail.
They claim to last up to 2 weeks and we both had our set on for just under that (maybe 10-11 days). To remove we just simply peeled them off (which surprised us both that it was so easy considering how well they had stayed on…). Absolutely no damage was done to our nails (which has also never happened for either of us during a gel manicure) and actually left our nails looking/feeling really healthy.
So our conclusion on this ManiMe product review?
It’s definitely something we both intend to use again. The website is extremely user friendly and they show simple tutorials of how to order and then use the product. Not to mention that they have SO many cute designs, patterns and colors to choose from – picking one might’ve been the hardest part of this process. They also are toxin free and cruelty free – which we really appreciate!! We contacted ManiMe and they nicely offered us a $5 off code to share with anyone who is inserted in trying them out.
