Em: Years and years ago when I was first diagnosed with Lupus, every relative and family friend started coming out of the woodwork with well meaning advice on what would help ‘cure’ me. I assume this happens fairly frequently – where everybody wants to help with a situation that feels very out of their hands, so they relay something they heard from a friend of a friend or something that helped so and so’s cousin. One of the suggestions that has stuck with me after all these years came from one of our dad’s oldest friends, who called up to tell him that he heard cherry juice is incredibly helpful for autoimmune issues because it helps inflammation and helps boost your immune system.
Unlike Kate I’ve never been a huge fan of fruit but I have always been crazy about cherries. Hearing that there were something that could potentially help in any way, made my ears perk up. I’m one of those people who thoroughly loves researching all things health (including products), so after a deep dive on the internet and reading that yes, using cherry juice to fight inflammation was indeed a thing, I made a mental note to give it a try.
But honestly at that point in my health journey I was so overwhelmed with my situation that I never actually got around to giving it a real go, and then I just kind of forgot about it all together until… we attended Natural Product Expo West. We encountered at least half a dozen cherry juice companies and it all came flooding back to me.
At the expo we talked to the people behind every cherry booth and examined each product we saw with the intention of finding our favorite. We knew very quickly after discovering Cheribundi that this was the cherry juice we were looking for and interested in taking to better our health. Their one-of-a-kind juicing process produces the highest antioxidant strength of any super fruit juice.
Their 100% tart cherry juice has no added sugars or fillers, is never from concentrate, and you are getting the equivalent of 60 tart cherries in each 8 oz. serving. This powerhouse of a juice promises to help your body in so many ways and many of them are extremely ideal for someone dealing with autoimmune and/or other chronic health issues.
The cherry juice challenge:
Cheribundi has a 7-day challenge highlighted on their website inviting people to try their powerful juice for 7 days and note their faster recovery, improved sleep, reduced soreness, and strengthened immunity. So that is EXACTLY what we decided to do! Although they have 7 slightly different options to choose from, we decided to try the 100% natural tart cherry juice for the challenge .
The claim:
“The first 7 days of drinking Cheribundi are the most important. It’s when you’ll feel the positive effects of our tart cherry juice for the first time. In 7 days, you’ll discover how the highest antioxidant strength of any super fruit juice can help you feel great.”
What we did:
We each consumed one 8oz. bottle of Cheribundi tart cherry juice each day for 7 days.
What we found:
We were actually sad when our 7 day trial was came to an end because we started to crave (and look forward to!) our tart cherry juice each night. Heading in to our trial, we weren’t quite sure what to expect but we were surprised that we each separately noted that we slept better after drinking the cherry juices before going to bed. As we’ve talked about a few times, sleep is a tough one for us as we both struggle with getting enough hours due to our chronic illnesses and all the symptoms that comes along with them (such as joint/muscle pain, insomnia, adrenaline surges, headaches, etc.).
The tart cherry juice contains a naturally occurring melatonin and during this trial period, it was truly the best our sleep cycle has been for a long time – which is HUGE for us.There is also no added sugar in these drinks so although the sugar content is 25 grams, it’s the natural sugar found in tart cherries. We are both hypoglycemic and are very sensitive to sugar and the crashes that come with it, yet neither of us had any negative side effects from the natural sugars from the cherries which was a pleasant surprise.
The final point we each separately wrote about was reduced soreness. Aching muscles is something we both deal with on and off and it’s impossible to predict at times what causes a particularly painful day. But during our week, pain was definitely down! It’s kind of amazing that drinking a juice can give you such a notable change in pain levels; we’re constantly on the hunt for products to add to our bag of secret weapons for the days when we’re really struggling Cherribundi is being added to that bag. It’s kind of wild that there are so many benefits from drinking a delicious little bottle of cherry juice.
Doing something proactive for your health does not always taste so good – trust us. We are definitely believers in the power of Cheribundi and would highly recommend anyone who has health related issues like ours to give it a try.

I wish more people knew about the power of tart cherry juice. I get extremely bad joint pain with my SLE. The ONLY thing that reduces and stops the pain is downing 1/2 bottle of tart cherry. I’ve tried several brands and for many reasons, Cheribundi is my favourite.
